I’m a big fan of transparencies, and really like the dimension it can add to simple clean design. I love the unique colors that form in the overlapped areas, often really awesome and always completely fun to look at. :)
I recently used transparencies in a new birthday card design. I wanted it to be fun and whimsical, yet simple and layered. I love circles, too, so some free flowing cheerful circles were in order. I picked shades in muted rusty pink, mustard and teal blue and paired it with a richer purple blue text that says “happy birthday!”.
Like all of my recycled products, this card is made with 100% post consumer fiber, is now available in my shop and can be purchased here. Cheers!

After some extreme busyness, I’m back and in full swing! I spent a good part of last week working on a large order and am excited to announce that my cards and mini journals will be in a B&M store in MA! I am also super excited to share a new mini journal / sketchbook I had created last month but finally had a moment to take some pics and add it to my shop yesterday. :)
This journal was created as part of my first installment of hand drawn sketchbooks (there will definitely be more to come as part of a second installment). It is a cute pocket size journal / sketchbook that is blank and made from 100% post consumer fiber, waiting to be filled with all kinds of cheery bits!
It features my hand drawn sunflower with hand lettered words “my little book of happy things”. It is reproduced in black (the original color) with shades of yellow gold and teal added to the sunflower.
I have more new goodies in my shop that I just haven’t had a chance to add to my blog yet. Hope you check it out! My little book of happy things is now available and can be purchased here. Cheers!

Apologies for not posting sooner! My lack of a proper schedule sometimes means that I don’t always get around to the things I’d like to as quickly as I’d like to!
Recently I had a request from a customer to create a large order of birthday cards in a more “boy friendly” color scheme. Now, I’ve never thought of my designs as either boy or girl, I create and use colors that speak to me. It just so happens I’m a girl, so I suppose some of my girly ways have managed to influence my designs a bit.
I have always been somewhat of a tomboy, though — playing with mud and climbing trees when I was little, …and Legos (but I had a vast collection of Barbies too) — and as an adult I like cars, video games and football, and detest sappy chick flicks. So when it came to my designs I’ve always thought I was generally gender neutral, but upon closer inspection I realize that is not entirely the case. Just look at my logo!
So, I took the challenge of creating more “boy friendly” versions of cards based on the ones my client was interested in — although I do think any of my designs could be for any gender and I really don’t believe in discriminating or labeling in this regard. So if you’re a dude that likes pink, go for it! :)
The first card is based on my original pink birthday robot card. I chose a warm shade of blue to make it a little more appealing to boys.
The second card is based on my Best Day Birthday Card. I changed the peach and pink (typically considered more feminine) colors to a muted brown and gold color.
For the third design, I removed the pink and mint green from the original, and replaced it with an olive green and deep blue.
My customer received her package last week and was so happy with these alterations. I think this means I’ll be expanding my color palette a bit more in the coming months! All of these versions are now available in my shop and can be purchased here.

Based on my recent Mother’s Day cards and originally from my I Like You cards designs, I have two new cards for dad this Father’s Day.
The first card has the words “BEST DAD EVER.” in big orange letters, with “and greatest” in dark brown cursive text tucked into the sentence. The inside says ”for real” in dark brown cursive text with little bursts in orange. I love orange & brown together and, btw, this one works for dad’s birthday as well!
The second one below has “YOU’RE THE BEST” in blue with a “seriously” snuck in. The inside is a simple message, “happy father’s day” in brown with blue bursts.
Simple and thoroughly thoughtful options for a seriously great dad in your life. :)
These Father’s Day Cards are now available in my shop and can be purchased here.

With Mother’s Day coming up soon (Sunday May 13), Father’s Day is not too far behind (June 17)! So I have a few new cards in my shop that are perfect for an awesome dad in your life. :)
This card is the dad version of the mom card I created and shared with you back in March. It has the word DAD in light muted brown text with white double ruled lines in the center of each letter. Inside the A is an illustration of sunglasses and a horseshoe moustache. The words “you’re a damn cool dude” are underneath in a gold colored banner.
Inside says “also, i love you. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!” in brown and yellow text.
Every guy, especially a dad, wants to feel like a cool dude. This sends the message that you both acknowledge his inner coolness and that you love him. :)
Father’s Day Card can be purchased here.

The last week has been crazy busy but I finally have a chance now to share some new items I’ve recently added to my shop. One of them is this Congratulations card!
I used one of my favorite fonts in a muted brown tone, and surrounded it with fun semi-circles on the top and bottom in gold, warm brown, sky blue, steel blue, and a mauvey pink. Adding them to the top and bottom gives the word a nice frame without actually framing it. Each little semi-circle has a tiny solid white circle in the center.
I think these would be perfect for upcoming graduations, but really could be great for any kind of celebration, big or small. :)
This Congratulations Card now available in my shop and can be purchased here.
